The Fire Department starts Operation Red Ball with four inch displays for front windows or doors and smaller liners for lobby mailboxes. Children counts go in blank space. invalid shields also mailed. Red Balls and shields available by calling the Fire Chief at 366-1234.
Gary Doss and Fred Zimmerman are sworn in as police sergeant and lieutenant by Mayor Howard Mobr. Doss brings 10 years with the department and a large family. Zimmerman has 20 years, including juvenile work, and two children. Both spouses are named Audie and Betty.
A crowd enjoyed urban barbershop harmony at Proviso East auditorium as Forest Parkers helped raise funds for a new Forest Park Community Center. The Harvest of Harmony show, produced by the Forest Park Review and Harmony Hounds, netted over $1000 with a $1000 check presented to Mayor Howard Mohr.
Esprit de Corps of Forest Park Vil lage Vocal Chords earned second place at the International Harmony contest in Montreal. The quartet includes Betty Guoterman JoAnne DuBois Jeanne O Con nor and Sharon Schneider. About 12 members of the WYC attended the event as the organization expands with chapters across the U S and Canada.
Forest Park Village Council unanimously overrode a ZBA denial to approve Dr. John Hanover’s pet motel at 7233 Madison Street. The decision raises the prospect of a legal fight as Hanover contends a bank buyer now holds the property. The session also approved 4-unit apartments at 3B Lathrop Avenue and promoted two police officers.
Provenzano announces applicants may receive a portion of federal revenue sharing funds for public health safety recreation environmental control and libraries within the township. The Town Board will review requests filed in sextuplicate to 7508 Madison Street Forest Park by November 19.
