Joseph Arthofer, a longtime clerk at Forest Park Post Office, retired on October 31 after 33 years of service. A farewell party with coffee and cake followed the mail delivery, and colleagues gave him a wrist watch to mark his shift to leisure. He plans to seek part time work to stay active.
Forest Park teachers met to discuss District 91 policy shift as the board hired outside negotiator Dr. Roy O Neil at a potential cost up to twenty thousand dollars. Critics note existing board and Northwestern University consultants, while teachers seek direct talks with board members.

The Forest Park Village Council approved an ordinance establishing a Police Captain position to augment the police staff of chief, three lieutenants and four sergeants. Examinations for the new post will be run by the Fire and Police Commissioners. The council also noted water rate review and a proposal for a single vehicle tax. October parking meter receipts totaled 4,102 dollars. Retiring Public Works Superintendent Herbert Petersohn was saluted for 30 years of service.
