Army Decoration for Forest Park Boy Sergi Kuhs Jr
Sergi Kuhs Jr son of Henry Kuhs Sr of 616 Beloit Avenue received the British Military Medal for gallantry during a September 20 1918 action on the Hindenburg Line while serving with Company C 1st Amer Tank Battalion attached to the Nelilwh unit. His tank was destroyed, he stayed with wounded comrades, and he continued with infantry duties. He later went to Plymouth hospital. he also earned the Croix de guerre from France. His father recalls his vow to help overthrow the Kaiser as he stays proud of his son’s actions.
