A mobile X ray unit will be in Forest Park on Tuesday June 1 offering free chest X rays from 10 30 am to 330 pm at 7417 West Madison. Wick Jewelers chairing the event with Mrs Kenneth Wick who led the 1964 Christmas Seal drive and serves as secretary of Forest Park Chamber of Commerce.

Lions Banquet at Sahara Inn Saturday
More than 130 Lions members wives and friends will attend the Installation dinner at the Sahara Inn with steak and red snapper. A free cocktail hour begins at 6 30 p m final reservations with Arch Rierson Cliff Clemens or Herman Milas a new member presented a program on human relations at the Pines lunch. Directors voted to donate 25 to the Red Cross fund drive Howard Rete is in charge of the annual picnic on June 16.

Hanley Park District Elects New President and Vice
John Hanley was elected President of the Park District of Forest Park and Kenneth Stange named Vice President at the May 7 meeting. Both begin their third year as Park Commissioners. Hanley said the swimming pool will open in mid June after brushing, cleaning, painting and equipment work. He thanked volunteers who weeded, mowed, trimmed hedges and helped clean the park.

Poppy Sale Starts Today in Chicago Raise Funds for Veterans
Carl Gawlas, new President of the Veterans Poppy Day Association of Chicago, announces the Chi cagoland Poppy Sale to raise funds for rehabilitation and welfare services for veterans and families. The 1965 sale runs Thursday and Friday May 21 and 22 from 4 pm to 4 pm. Local veteran leader Gawlas, a Jackson Tennessee native, serves as Post Commander and heads Poppy campaigns from post to department levels. He is president of Associated Typographers Inc. and is active in American Legion and other groups.

Forest Park to Vote on 1.725 Million Improvement Plan
Mayor Howard R. Mohr unveils a Village Improvement Program to resurface 40 percent of streets, upgrade water works, install new street lights, and modernize the pumping station. The plan, funded by bonds and without tax increases, includes a $525,000 lighting phase and a $703,000 street paving cost financed by motor fuel taxes and current income.
