Ralph Clapsaddle's 30th Anniversary with Northern Illinois Gas Co

Ralph A. Clapsaddle of 319 Burkardt Court marks his 30th anniversary with Northern Illinois Gas Co. He has held many meter supply and operating jobs in the area and now serves as an operating work dispatcher with M-Gas in Bellwood. He and his wife Marion have two children Judith, married to George Hayes in Inglesoll Ontario, and Edward, a member of the 101st Airborne at Fort Campbell Kentucky. He belongs to Forest Park Methodist church.

Blough Receives Air Force Association Citation

Harold Brough of 516 Marengo is named one of three recipients of a special Air Force Association citation for promoting air force programs. The award was presented Saturday at a dinner at the Conrad Hilton hotel. Brough, a Civil Air Patrol captain and former AFA commander, chairs the air space education committee for the West Buburen squadron.

Scoutmaster Leads Troop to National Jamboree in July

Guy Elwell of 428 Hannah helps head the scout delegation to the national Jamboree on July 21 in Colorado. He is Scoutmaster of Troop 108 sponsored by St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Two Stores Here Burglarized

Burglars hit Forest Park Monday by dropping into Peaslee Hardware then into the Ben Franklin store next door. They climbed to the roof, lifted an airy window, and dropped inside. They took 55.00, tools, 20 feet of rope, and left a crow bar. They escaped by a rear car. The burglars then used rope to descend into Hon Franklin and left after ransacking the office. Friday in daytime, Glen Zimmerman’s home at 7654 Monroe was entered by forcing the front door and ransacked. 500 fry cash and a fable lighter were stolen.

Soldier James E. Lemm participates in Fort Hood maneuver

Army private James E. Lemm son of Mr and Mrs William Lemm 442 Thomas is taking part in a two week field maneuver at Fort Hood Texas He entered the Army in June 1954 completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri The 22 year old veteran is a Proviso High graduate of 1936.

New Hope for Overpass at Beloit Ave

Acting Mayor Mike Lambke told the Village Council there is new hope for the Beloit Avenue overpass at Ex pressway. He said the state still considers it, with a wait and see stance, and if schools churches and the Park prove needful results could follow. The walk over would be about 20 feet high and eight feet wide and fully screened.

Kern Robbery and Car Theft Near Oak Park

Joseph Kern, an Oak Park bank official, was robbed Friday night at 8:30 after returning home. A gunman demanded his wallet, watch, coat, keys, and car, tying his hands and feet and blindfolding him before another robber fled with his belongings.

Kindergarten Registration Set for May 13

Children who will attend public school kindergartens next September must be five years old on or before December 1, 1980. Forest Park Planning Aim Urges Balanced Growth

John Phelan, president of the Planning and Zoning Board, told the Chamber of Commerce that Forest Park needs a better balance of business, industry, and homes. He praised local schools, churches, park district, transportation, and civic groups but called the town a dormitory. He said new industry would require replacing old buildings. Milton Eggerding urged a brochure to attract business and industry, noting the past is the past and the future is the objective.

MIT Scholar John Stocky Wins Four-Year Award

John Stocky of 646 Hannah, Chicago, son of Mr and Mrs James Till, has been awarded the William H Donner scholarship at MIT valued at 2200 dollars per year. The senior at St Phillips High School will major in Aeronautical engineering.

Lions Kiwanis Clash Over Missing Song Books

At a Tuesday Lions meeting the club reported missing song books blamed on Kiwanis in a tense exchange. President Willis Reich accused the Kiwanis of a low trick while Kiwanis president Don Onorato denied involvement. Lion Claude Walker Jr. offered to investigate and may contact the Harry Glos Detective agency.
