Forest Park Students to Undergo Tuberculin Tests

First, fourth and seventh grade pupils in Forest Park will receive tuberculin tests on Wednesday May 15 at several schools. Dr Julius Novak of the Tuberculosis Institute of Chicago will supervise, with nurse Mary Casey assisting. chest X-rays will be offered for those with positive or suspicious reactions.

Park Electric denies closing. continues operations

S A Maren owner of Park Electric at 7219 Madison called reports of the business going out of business entirely false on Tuesday and stated the shop will continue to operate as usual. The remark is followed by a reflection on foresight in decision making.

Six Teams Entered in 16 Inch Recreation Softball League

Six teams join the 16 inch Recreation softball league to play nightly Monday through Friday under lights at the Park. Interested teams may sign up by May 20 or the league will close. Current entrants include Richard's Tap Vogel's the Pink Clock R D Liquors the Khans and the Public Service All Stars.

Confirm Class at Forest Park Methodist Church

Brownie Troop 210 Finalizes May Plans at Mayfair Home

Brownie Troop 210 leaders met at Mrs. Ralph Baldridge's home at 7519 Dixon to finalize flying-up ceremonies. Leaders include Mrs. Baldridge, Mrs. George Scharama, Mrs. R Schelik, Mrs. Betty McVickers, and Mrs. Avelee Quitch. McVickers and Schelik named intermediate scout-leaders. May patrol leaders are Carol Scharama, Pat Castner, and Mildred Rockey.

Miss Proviso Pageant sets Maywood bid for Miss Illinois

Nine finalists including Blanche Kos of Forest Park compete Saturday at Proviso High School fieldhouse in Maywood. A 2 pm parade through the business district precedes the 7 pm pageant to select a successor to 1956 queen Gerry Lange.

Tag Day Planned By Forest Park Pony League

A tag day will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday May 11 in Forest Park villages main streets. Organized by the Forest Park Pony League and the National Boys Baseball League funds support equipment and league activities for the coming year. Co chairmen are Eugene Semind and Fred OConnor.

Larry Buchanan Joins Western Michigan Broncos Baseball Team

Larry Buchanan, an 18 year old freshman and former Proviso high school star, joins the Western Michigan Broncos as a top outfield candidate. Son of Mr. and Mrs. William Buchanan of 442 Thomas, he stands 6 1 and weighs 196, excelling in football and basketball as well as four year outfield on the baseball squad.

Memorial Day Service Planned By Vets Groups

Memorial Day activities in Forest Park are planned by American Legion post 414 and Veterans of Foreign Wars post 7181. Ray F. Block and Elroy Heinrichs chair the event with a parade set for Thursday May 30 at 1 30 p m, assembling on Franklin Street and marching south to Madison Street then to the park for services.
