Two Local Men Die in Elmhurst Gas Crash
Two carpenters William Gerseeske 43 of 6 Thomas Ave and Gas Wolff 45 of 7239 Madison were killed when their car was struck by a westbound Chicago Aurora and Elgin train at Poplar Avenue crossing in Elmhurst. Driver Harry Blede 48 of Melrose Park is in serious condition. A witness said the car waited for an eastbound train then crossed into the path of the school children's special. Crossing bells and lights were said to be working.
