Mrs Gerhardt and her children frightened an intruder at 7706 Adams at 8 p.m. He tried a basement window then climbed into a bedroom window before fleeing. Police and River Forest squad responded. a car stolen from 7735 Adams during the incident was later linked to the suspect’s escape.

Mrs Elmer Schnarstein wife of the local police Lieutenant suffered a fractured pelvis when struck by an auto in California last week. Her condition is satisfactory. The Schnarsteins were visiting relatives and vacating in California. She was crossing a street when a second car passed a car stopped for her. She will stay at San Antone Community hospital Upland Calif for three weeks.

Vic Piepal Drowns in Florida Boating Accident
Vic Piepal former tavern owner and civic leader drowned during a boating accident in Boca Raton Florida. Survived by his wife Esther and two children Valerie and Thomas. He reportedly fished with two companions when a wave capsized the boat. The Plepola moved to Florida four years ago and previously owned the Acron Lounge at Franklin and Harlem. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce and chaired the annual School Picnic and served on Forest Park Centennial Parade committee in 1956. Funeral was held Tuesday in Florida.

John Parichy dies at 93 in New Jersey
John Parichy, 93, died last week. He was the husband of the late Anna and father of Emery A., Joseph J., Theodore F., Clara A. Fowler, Ethel P. Glenn, and the late Elizabeth M. Magon. He was brother to Joseph, the late Michael, Stephen, and Sue Egry, and grandfather to 10, with further descendants noted. Interment was planned at Prenton N.J.
