Military Funeral for Earl Shepherd Soldier Honored by American Legion
Earl Shepherd, a World War I veteran, was given a Morent Park American Legion funeral service. Bearers included Fred Becker and Albert Koop, with a firing squad at the grave and hymns sung by Mrs. St. Meed and Mrs. L. Madely. Born in Pytnaic county, he later lived in Pearly and Foret Park before ill health led to his death at Speedway hospital on April 24. His father died in 1928. he is survived by his mother and one sister, Gladya.

Local Improvements board held a hearing Monday in Cornell chambers on widening Desplaines avenue from Roosevelt to the village’s south line. The plan would extend from 14 to 20 feet, with cemeteries and Harlem Golf Club frontage. About fifty cemeteries could be affected. representatives from First Hungarian Cemetery and others spoke. Estimated cost is 41,049.67, with old curb removed and new three foot strip paved with asphalt on each side. Objections were raised by cemetery representatives.

Commercial Club Stag Celebrates Membership Drive Results
Forest Park Commercial met Monday at Leghon Memorial hall to celebrate adding more than forty new members. Harvey T. Emm, secretary of the Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce, presided, praising Forest Park’s strong community spirit and urging continued local engagement through the Commercial Club and state organization. A vaudeville program followed, featuring the Triangl Trio, Jerry Sullivan, Bugs Wheeler, Bradley the ventriloquist, and May Schook. An excellent buffet lunch concluded the event as the largest turnout in years with many new members present. The Chamber plans legislative advocacy for 1925, backing a State Police Force, Gateway Amendment, school reorganization, and fair taxation, with a referendum on publicity for state expenditures and public fund handling.
