Mayor Howard Mohr refused to consider a 15 raise demanded by the Grievance Committee of the local police for all officers. The committee, led by Officer Howard Lawish, said the request should be weighed during next year’s budget deliberations after May 1st, noting a prior $300,002 monthly raise and a fringe uniform benefit.
Pvt 1st Class Dennis Galloway 24 receives the Air Medal for Meritorious service in Vietnam. LTC Kenneth K. Kolster awards him at Fort Sheridan. Galloway is an Operations Specialist assigned there after enlisting February 11, 1963. He is a Proviso East High School graduate and son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Galloway.
Samuels, longtime director of Mackle Bros vast sales organization at 7704 Madison River Forest, promoted to Vice President after transferring from New York where he led Florida interests at the World’s Fair. He set sales records for Marcosland and Deltonia and will oversee River Forest office duties plus his new executive role.
The Montessori Child Development School at 16 Lathrop to Forest Park hosts an Open House Friday at 4 p.m. Mayor Mohr and Forest Park leaders will meet with officials to tour the new facility. About 60 parents anticipate the program benefiting three to five year olds with self paced learning and engaging materials.
Forest Park Review promotes an adults only candidate night on April 13 at Homers Restaurant beginning 7 30 p m First come seating with coffee doughnuts and a cash bar Social hour follows speeches Mayor candidates speak 10 minutes each and Commissioner candidates five minutes each Editor Claude Walker Jr opens with Rev Erwin Paul to give the invocation Final week before the election draws a full house.
Invitations have been sent to Monsignor Wagener and the Franciscan Sisters of St Bernardines, to the staff of St John’s Lutheran School, to Supt Albert and to the principals and staff of Garfield Grant White Betsy Ross and Field Steyarison schools.
John Tobin, Forest Park police chief and longtime Boy Scout supporter, is named to lead the 1967 Sustaining Membership Enrollment in Forest Park for Thatcher Woods Area Council. Forest Park reports 615 Cub, Boy, Sea, and Explorer Scouts registered. A Forest Park Board of Education meeting is set for Wednesday April 5 at 8 15 p.m in the Field Stevenson School office 925 Beloit. public welcome.
The Forest Park Newcomers Club hosts a benefit fashion show on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Flist United Church of Christ 1000 Elgin with Mary Jo Fashions of Oak Park sponsoring. Mrs Carole Conway is chairwoman and Mrs Carmella Saputo is co chairwoman. The committee includes Merry Wlodarek Polly Librizst Donna Rasch Barbara Croker and others. The public is welcome.
Promoted to Captain, Capt. Jamen R. Blazek, recruit ing officer at NAS Alameda, conducts his first reserve personnel inspection. A World War II veteran from the USS Enterprise flight deck, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross as a naval aviator in an attack torpedo squadron. He recently flew a mission to Vietnam and met his Marine son in Danang. He lives with wife Maryann Parichy and family in San Lorenzo.
Seven Forest Park residents earn a University of Illinois Urbana academic honor list spot. Named are Karen Elwell Doris Kelley Gary Mariner John Pronos Harry Reeder Dane Reichert and Margaret Dignenant.
