The Camp Fire Girls committee agrees on events and fundraising to support wartime efforts. Five new members join at a recent meeting, with plans for a layette for Belgian sufferers and a March 16 Armory celebration to honor Camp Fire’s anniversary and boost patriotism.
The Business Association invites friends and members to its annual banquet at Madison Street and Des Plaines Avenue on Tuesday evening March 22. A program features a chorus and orchestra, dancing, andtable seats at four dollars per couple.
Mr ahd Merv Jacob Schuth of 724% Madivon avenue announces the arrival of their baby girl Meaptror. Mr Schuth's friends observe the debut in the new household. Aunt Stee Otto Sleland of Charlestown formerly Forest Park shares pride in a son born Whesnom on March 2.
In LEI A Tat ut Mamen area officials announce candidacies ahead of the April 2 township vote. Charlie We Strode seeks the supervisor post while John G. Carson, Fred Samuel Jr, Guerke Jr, Win Worn choff Wave, and Alfred Papp pursue town clerk assessor and tax collector roles. The election will fill supervisor town clerk assessor highway commissioner and tax collector, with incumbent Ottrr Hintze seeking reelection.
Fern and La Verne Voss marked their birthday with family and friends gathering Sunday afternoon at 7202 Madison Street. Attendees included Joseph Miller Rayfred Hinerohann Ernest Guenther Robert Linke and Mildred Stiller among others as hosts served refreshments and the twins were celebrated amid playful remarks about distinguishing them.
A new amusement company organized in Purest Park with officers Paul Henze president Thomas Groh secretary and HS Moturren treasurer. Directors include Henze Thor Tiathani and J W McQuarron. Plans show two attractions, a giant safety coaster and a submarine warfare exhibit titled Porval of the Ocean, to debut at Forest Park Amusement Park. Local committees and staff are listed along with a call for dental assistants over 16 for Monday shifts.
The Garfield school hosts a Monday evening P T A meeting moved from Thursday with Mrs. W F Young headlining a talk on child education. Attendees include local students from Miss Lohstein's class and performances by Garfield and Forest Park youngsters, plus plans for a benefit lecture by Gilbert McClure to aid school yard maintenance.
Willam Cunningham of 9 Uvlolt Street leaves Sunday to attend a meeting at the Raf Road committee on National Defense. The Lodge No 245 entertainment committees and their ladies met at Hermera hall to celebrate their past twelve months of entertainments. A tea and dance followed with vocal and instrumental numbers. Mim Kummerow of-21% Chale avenue celebrated her birthday with a Wednesday afternoon gathering on February 27. The room and dining table were decorated in patriotic colors. Games were played with Mer I Sehush and Mrs A Darrant as top winners. Sergeant Darrant of Chicago treated the group to an automobile ride in the afternoon. Several attendees listed include Bee s Rhee Bees, Melting 8r, G Milling, PB dehueller, H Mores, Lb Buttetaft, A Miewager, Mf Bends, Been, ML Selloff, War Rinney, C Meneke, Raery.
A local Boy Scout troop reports strong entry numbers for a new class and progress toward merit badges. Secretary of Treasury W J McAdon commends the Scouts for contributions aiding the upcoming victory, while plans for a third Liberty Loan and April committee report are noted.
Funeral service held for Fred Lussow aged about who died after a long illness. Born in Mechlinburg Germany he immigrated to America 25 years ago. He lived in Forest Park most of his life and was a longtime resident before moving to Forest Park. Burial took place at Concordia Cemetery after services at the Newe. Pallbearers named Amelia and family attended, with sympathy from community members.
Seventeen hundred people attended a Sunday Red Cross lecture at Oak Park theatre featuring Mrs Stobart, famed for Serbian relief work. The event raised funds for the Serbian Red Cross with proceeds donated through the Serbian Relief Committee of America.
Forest Park village council meets with Mayor Kaul and commissioners Hanna Michalsky Steek Wendt present. Minutes approved. appointments and reports discussed including special fireman Herman Khbhy, water and sewer matters, and bid approval process for a new water reservoir.
Provi High School notes a March dance hosted by the Provi staff with Le Beap's daxaphone banjo orchestra as the music. The event is billed as a big time social gathering with subscriptions one dollar and printing details listed in the notice.
