Special hearing on Forest Park P O move

Mayor Santo Rizzo announced a special public hearing by the U S Postal Service for next Wednesday. The agency proposes relocating its South Suburban facility and 1 068 employees from Ford City Chicago to 7500 Roosevelt Road Forest Park near the Bulk Mall Processing Center. Forest Park officials oppose due to traffic, services strain, tax base impact, and planning objectives. The 7 40 p m session at village hall 517 Desplaines invites residents and groups to attend and voice opinions.

Forest Park Little League registration set for weekend

Forest Park Little League holds sign ups this Saturday and Sunday at the Park District Administration Building 7500 Harrison St from 1 to 4 p.m. Fees range by age from 8 to 12 dollars with senior league at 25 dollars and a family maximum of 30 dollars.

Forest Park votes to self insure amid rising premiums

Forest Park Village Council moves to let liability insurance lapse March 1 and self insure. Officials Cathy Buckley and Fred Marunde lead the charge. premiums reach about 5000 dollars monthly. The panel also plans police and fire changes, vehicle use rules, and a May 26 children’s picnic with Chamber of Commerce and schools.

Forest Park firefighters oppose paramedic program in referendum

Lieuts Hodges and Knaack urge defeat of the March 26 vote citing adequate ambulance service and risks. They note no Oak Park or River Forest program yet and warn of high costs up to 290000 in year one and 170000 annually thereafter funded by a real estate tax.
