Two gunmen roamed a Derwent's gas station attendant William Lilly at 7201 Washington Boulevard near Harlem Avenue, Sunday night. They wore extended bite steel automatics, took 12.74 from the cash drawer and Lilly's cash, fleeing in a car parked on the Oak Park side of Harlem Avenue. No clues locate the suspects.
The Forest Lions Club treasury gained about 600 dollars from a noon meeting on Thursday when sixty prizes donated by members were sold to fifty attendees at 25 cents each. Prizes included golf clubs, other golf equipment, tires valued around 75 dollars, and a marble ram valued at 65 dollars. Next week’s meeting is canceled due to the Fourth of July. The following week four delegates Charles R. Blassey William Albright Sutye Rossman and Carl Soderlin will report on the Louisville Kentucky International convention where they enjoyed southern hospitality.
Eagles Nine captured their fifth win by routing Garfield Park Aerie 9 to 0. Local pitcher Jacobs allowed four hits with eleven strikeouts and one walk. The club has only one loss, to Lawndale, and will face Lawndale next Sunday at Lawndale Fiftieth and Roosevelt. Secretary Leslie Hurwitz vows to beat Lawndale. The Eagles travel to Glen Ellyn on July 4.

Kigureines carved from somp by public schools were photographed by the Chicago Daily News in a news reel shown at the Chicago theatre this week. The project, led by Meyer head of the visual education department, will be shown at other theatres including a local movie house.
The Comcrete Building Units Co begins sidewalk work on Madison Street from Harlem Avenue northward. Obstructions at several frontages slow progress while widening to ten feet where possible. Despite disruptions from fences steps and building setbacks, the project aims to improve business street access with full width sidewalks soon. Street lighting globes have been installed and lighting plans underway.
Carlo Schreiber leads the Royal Troubadours in a new season of Saturday and Sunday dances at the Dancing Gardens near Chicago, with the orchestra fresh from prior triumphs. Carl, a Proviso Township High School alum, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schrieber of 217 Elgin Avenue, drawing local support for his musical venture.
