Forest Park village council debates water purchases from Chicago to ease costs, postpones street opening pending attorney advice, and considers a West Towns street car franchise. Officials discuss paving burdens, weigh inspector roles, and deny a license rebate as a Chicago lawyer petitions on water usage.
J W Bt Clair of East Springfield Pa rejoins his wife and child after a family car trip from Denver. They were separated for a full day near Forest Park and Roosevelt road. Chicago police and local towns coordinated via radio to locate the missing son and daughter at Etk hardt Ind and reunite the family.
Forest Park Commercial association selects officers and forms picnic and project committees for the First Annual Joint Picnic with the Madison Street Boosters. George W. Armbrust is president. Leslie Partridge secretary. committees cover tickets, publicity, program, transportation, and signs to aid Forest Park turnout. The outing is set for August 2 at Deltwood Park Joliet with Forest Park and Madison Street Boosters branding.
A good government workers party was arranged for this evening at Legion Hall during the municipal campaign. The event features a program, dancing and cards for attendees.
Penny blossoms were given to tubercular patients in Spendway huaphul while bedridden. Edith Welleman distributed bouquets at the request of a director, noting flowers ease suffering. A patient praised the gift as thoughtful, and Dr Borglamm highlighted flowers’ comfort for those confined to beds.
Commissioner Britch advocates Forest Park buying Chicago water to meet demand, with night delivery and a new reservoir. The plan promises $700 daily savings, a potential $25,000 yearly benefit, and would require voluntary support from property owners and taxpayers. Forest Park A. and P. was robbed last Saturday by two men who entered the store, covered clerk Albert Koukal with revolvers, and escaped with the cash drawer contents just over thirty dollars. The bandits fled to a car near Circle avenue as a woman and goat herder accompanied them. similar robberies occurred at two other A. and P. stores that afternoon, including one in Oak Park, suggesting a coordinated crew targeting red front groceries.
The American Legion July 4th celebration and exposition runs June 30 to July 8 at Beloit Avenue and Larrigon Street exposition grounds. Big shows include Mime Marie Coryell “The Platform Queen” and a “Moonlight Cabaret in Dixie” with Georgia cake-walkers. Boxing wrestling and a star-studded lineup feature Kid Broad Frankie Gomley Yor Zacya. A large jazz band will play each afternoon and night with concessions, rides, and a ferris wheel. The Legion promotes a popularity contest to fund debt payoff and invites entries at Thoendel’s Jewelry.
Mrs Helo Wolff of 815 Burkardt court was seriously hurt Saturday evening when she lost balance and fell while alighting from an eastbound street car at Madison street and Thomas avenue. Mrs Thomas Quollis of Busy Bea confectionery assisted her home and she has since been under a physician’s care. The accident occurred about 11 p m.
The Thuraday Kiwanis gathering featured Senator Frederick A. Moon and County Commissioner Miller discussing forest preserves. Speeches praised Forest Park youth advancing to West Point after a competitive exam, with Vanderblue honored for a public service token.
A 21 year old Chicago man, Baward C Berg of 6109 Kurlowe avenue, killed himself in Forest Park Cemetery at Roosevelt and Desplaines. His body, found next day by L C Marsabell while cutting may, showed advanced decomposition. A suicide note cited domestic troubles. Mrs. Yemabethe and Mr. Marwtalt witnessed. The coroner and undertaker Hiniter handled arrangements.
The Police Department unveils a brand new Ford touring car to replace an old sidercar and motorcycle. The chief vows the vehicle will be at the force's disposal for rapid response. The car is already in use after a Loftup call from Roosevelt Round and a false alarm at Harlem State Savings Bank.
Forest Park hosts a growing set of eating places including high grade general service restaurants, soft drink parlors, a Chinese restaurant, and other food venues. The increase aims to ease housewives cooking burden during heat waves as residents no longer need to go hungry. Officer Carl Gretchel was overcome by heat at his Madison home, taken to Oak Park hospital, and rested easily the next day.
Forest Park officials enacted an emergency ordinance banning sprinkling, watering walks and related uses from June through August to conserve supply. Mayor Kaul warned arrests for violations and urged residents to use water sparingly, limiting use to essential needs and avoiding 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
In Wood town cemetery case Judge Vault Witt fined Loult Quarterd of Hiversite $100 and costs after guilty plea for stealing flowers. Superintendent caught him in the act, aiding police to Forest Park. Mayor Kaul authorized half the fine to be paid, amid broader reports of cemetery flower thefts and town court actions.
