Boy 11 Cut in Fall While Playing Ball
Edward Habino 11 of 233 Des Plaines was cut on the leg June 11 while chasing a ball in the street. He tripped in the 200 block of Rockford parkway and cut his leg on broken glass. He was taken to Oak Park hospital where five stitches were required.

Fire Destroys Apartment. One Family Left Homeless
A fire at 337 Marengo rendered the Schwahns and several children homeless. Fire crews battled flames for two hours after 7 40 p.m. with damage over 3000 dollars. The blaze likely started in an overstuffed chair. Mrs Schwahn aided neighbors while Tony Nuncio aided Elsie Tonkins.

Mrs Frieda Bresemann longtime Forest Park resident died suddenly June 8 at home from a heart attack at 69. Services were held at Drechsler chapel then St John Ev Lutheran Church with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Play activities for youth summer program funded
The youth summer program opens June 20 with a full schedule of activities. Highlights include a drawing and crafts week, a dart tournament and softball league, a movie trip on June 24, crafts and horseshoes starting June 27, and a Cub’s Park trip on July 1. St Johns School Picnic Parade Saturday in Forest Park
Seven hundred children from St John’s Lutheran school and Sunday school will march in a colorfully staged parade through Forest Park this Saturday June 18. The procession will form at Circle and Madison at 11 a.m. and join north side pupils at the main school for a single large parade led by local fire and police departments and veteran organizations. At Altenheim grove a full program of games prizes food and rides awaits both youngsters and adults with free ice cream lemonade and pony rides for children.
