One of August Klenske’s pigeons finished second in a long-distance race from Ames to home. The bird left Ames at 7:15 a.m. and returned at 1:46 p.m., beaten by three yards by a Cicero pigeon. Time was clocked on the dove coat timer and the Klenske bird remained outside its pen for about two minutes after landing.
