Village council chaos erupts in booze party allegations
Commissioners and officials faced harsh accusations at a Monday village council meeting over a rumored booze party. Michael Brinch led attacks claiming misconduct by Rudolf Burkart Conrad Michalsky Paul Zimm erman and others while Mayor Kaul defended colleagues amid a heated exchange with insults and threats. The controversy followed an oath of office for Otto Reich and Harry Huxhold and included an attempted revocation of Joe Hoette’s license on Roosevelt Road.
Legion Fourth of July Celebration and Nine Day Carnival Here
Fore at Wark post 414, American Legion, will hire a Fourth of July celebration and exposition, starting Saturday, June 10, lasting nine days, closing Sunday, July 4. It will be held at Delalt avenue and Marrigan street with rides, shows, two fireworks displays, and carnival features. Proceeds fund service work for needy and disabled veterans and to reduce Memorial hall debt. Committee includes Erwin Thoendel, Wesley Weihe, H. C. Brodfield, James MacKyvoy, Harvey Buanthin, Arthur Pochet. fireworks stands planned at Harrigon and Des Maries, Harrigon and Bolelt, Randolph and Circle. The Legion has allocated funds but seeks more public contributions, asking checks payable to Brin Thuenlet.

Two Autos Collision Near Marengo Randolph Injures Three
Two cars collided late Saturday afternoon at Randolph and Marengo Avenue. Three occupants were taken to Oak Park Hospital with minor to serious injuries. Drivers were Dr. Charles A. Uny and Martin Alera, both of Oak Park. Passengers Allen Loom and Grace Kunst, with Ben Daniels, all from 2121 Madison Street, also hurt. Dr. Hay and wife uninjured. Dr. Hay later arrested on a traffic matter. Eyewitnesses unavailable. cause undetermined.

Old landmark torn down to make way for new progress
An aging landmark at the southwest corner of Washington Street and Harlem Avenue is razed to clear space for a Standard Oil station. The former saloon and restaurant known as Beckstein’s hosted Otto Schneider as bartender and later became an Italian restaurant Casa Ital as prohibition ended before government closure. The site has been empty for years.

Commencement Week Programs and Cemetery Revenue Additions
Chever Alomer Unda owner of a Jewish cemetery agreed with Forest Work village to dump refuse along the cemetery rear tract between Dey piaines avenue and Desplainen river for which the owner pays the village $500. Council heard this Monday evening from Commissioner Brlach as the street department will begin filling the lot without delay. Mayer Kaul and all commissioners attended the meeting called to order by the Mayor at 8:33. Fireworks permits brought in another $300 from H. Miller, with a stand at Jackson boulevard and Madison street. Licensing was renewed for the current year on Health Officer Corstens’ recommendation. Discussion covered water works bonds, a ten-year issue, with citizens invited to subscribe. A new plumbing ordinance was planned after the existing one was deemed obsolete. The motion to revoke Joe Hoette’s license failed. Brayor Kaul supported the polling call. vote tallied Brlach and the Mayor yes, Burkart Michalsky Zimmerman no. Michalsky moved adjournment as the crowd debated Brlach’s attack on local officials.
