Local retailers plan a June 14 sidewalk sale in Forest Park to compete with shopping center prices. Chamber promotion features bargains, gift certificates, band concert, prizes, square dance and free parking. Call Lorrayne Wick for details. early birds begin at 9 a.m.
Forest Park enters the final phase of its Clean Up Paint Up and Fix Up program with strong merchant resident and manufacturer support. The committee notes many projects completed and more in blueprint stages to modernize the village. Residents needing refuse haul help should call village hall at FOG-2325 for assistance.
The last day of school for Forest Park Public Schools students is Thursday June 10. Students report to their regular teacher at 9 30 a m to receive report cards and are dismissed by 10 30 a m. The Grant White afternoon kindergarten group will have report cards on Wednesday June 9 and do not report Thursday.

The Garden Club of Forest Park plans a June 9 Hawaiian party and Hawaii film in West Assembly room of Forest Park Library to celebrate its 34th anniversary. Refreshments at 1 p.m. and two prospective members will be initiated. Members are asked to bring used clothing for Association House.
Police chief Elmer Schnurstein with county officers arrested Mary O Connor, proprietor of the Desplaines and Madison newsstand, for keeping gambling devices. A search warrant was executed after weeks of surveillance. Betting slips money and scratch sheets were seized. She is slated to appear before the district judge on June 18.
George C. Olsen Assessor of Proviso Township mails Personal Property Schedules for 1965. Return must be made within ten days at 7500 Madison Forest Park to avoid a fifty percent penalty. Olsen will assist filing Fridays from 7 to 3 p.m. starting June 25.
Forest Park Pool will open June 22 with a new pass system for individuals and families at reasonable rates. Weekly Family Night on Wednesdays and private splash parties planned. Red Cross instructors will teach summer swimming each Monday and Thursday morning. children must be at least six. Four dollar fee covers 12 lessons. details at the pool this weekend.
The new Tot's Playground named Central Playground will be dedicated Thursday June 3 at 7 pm. Mayor Howard J H Mohr and Commissioners Lambke Witt Berlin Reich, plus Recreation Board members Tom Scolire Art Schelne Harry Milchhoefer Toby Zapfel Larry Conway Joe Hafner Bob Dowd, will attend. The board notes two village playgrounds already in operation Circle Randolph and 16th Circle.
