Harlem Avenue Paving Projects Move Forward Across Town

The Oak Park and Har len area outlines paving plans along Harlem avenue from 22nd to Lith Street with curb work and cement topdressings. Berwyn and Berwyn streets advance paving from Seth to Ogden, while Riverside aims to start its share in August. A Desplainey bridge project is surveyed but not expected to start this year.

Harlem and Desplaines Streets Now Through Roads

State highway rules extend to village streets in Forest Park and nearby towns, designating routes and requiring full stops at marked state routes. Maywood Man Killed After Auto Strikes Pedestrian on Madison

Maywood resident Prichard was fatally struck crossing Madison Avenue near Deepdales and Matioan street by a car driven by Evanston’s Paul J. Alwart. He was taken to Oak Park hospital after witnesses saw the impact and the vehicle’s brakes could not stop in time. Witnesses described Prichard as not noticing the turning car. The driver slowed, but the clash left Prichard unconscious and later died at hospital. authorities planned further inquiries.

Pumping House of Waterworks to Be Rebuilt

The waterworks pumping house will be rebuilt by contractor WHE att Wark this week. The old building will be removed and a new one erected while machinery runs, with temporary work to protect equipment. Superintendent Henry Ilgenberg notes the plant pumped 044,000 gallons in one day and forecasts 1,000,000 gallons daily as demand grows.
