Mrs. Etta Leach of East Seventy ninth street Chicago sustained injuries when a Ford driven by her husband with Mrs. Ruth McCluskey and another woman collided with a taxi driven by Vernon Materer of Oak Park at Desplaines avenue and Madigan street Forest Park. Leach received first aid then was taken home. Materer was held on $5000 bonds.

Fourteen Madison Street stores to rent project breaks ground
Ground was broken yesterday at the corner of Madison Street and Dedplaines Avenue for a one story building by the Harris company. The plan calls for stores facing Madison Street and Avenue on Deaplamnes Avenue. J P Madsen handles excavation and Ruggerdd company has the construction contract. The stores will be sixty five feet deep and from sixteen to nineteen feet wide. Three have already been rented, per the Hichter Agency in charge.

The Forest Park Post 414 American Legion held a carnival and Fourth of July celebration closing Sunday night. Mio Negele won the top prize of a diamond ring for selling Ford ticket stubs, with Miss Florence Hosche second for a white gold wrist watch and Miss Olive Cooley third for a pearl necklace. Revenue from fireworks beat the carny overflow, aiding debt reduction, while ticket sales for the automobile fell short of its cost. A lengthy donor list honored sponsors who supported the fireworks display and carnival expenses.
