Mrs Paul Heinze and daughters Marge Heles Clara and Pauline spent a week at Fox Lake with Mr and Mrs Goesch and daughter Eden. Mr Heinze joined briefly for an early morning outing and surprised the family by visiting them incognito. They returned for Fourth of July activities and plan another lakeside vacation before the season ends.
Harry D. Wyle, newly joined Forest Park teaching staff, married June 21 in St Louis to Miss Irene Nteholwun of Nekoowy NJ. The couple honeymooned in Colorado before returning to Forest Park to settle. Both graduates of Nokomis High School, he is a normal school graduate who served overseas.
Thieves broke into The Woroat Park Confectionery at Mudlodn Street and Circle Avenue, Wan, early Thursday and stole about 85,000 cigarettes and several hundred dollars in cigars. The rear window entry damaged an iron barn. Proprietor George Poulon Poulow opened shop to find the loss. police have not made any arrests.
The Junior duckien club in Forest Park celebrated its second anniversary at the Community clubhouse after drills and muscle development. Secretary reports 23 members at founding on June 7, 1918, now 52 members with several transfers from Humboldt Park and Maywood.
A man about 30 years old, possibly a Marine veteran, was found shot near the Fourth of July celebration grounds at a prairie coast area of an amusement park. Witnesses say the victim gave varying accounts claiming a woman with money. bystanders found a revolver 75 feet from him and he was taken to Gok Park hospital. Police pursue leads including a telegram to A Deakins of Phillips Wisconsin for the brother’s arrival to clarify the case. The scene drew workers and watchers who approached the victim after the shot.
Bertha Mehihaure daughter of Mr and Mrs George W Fieldhouse wed Watson A Hitchcock of Missouri on July 4 at home. Dr Jolwishone of Quick Park officiated. Helen Fieldhouse sister of the bride served as maid of honor. The bridal party departed in a hurry to the photographer then guests enjoyed a luncheon.
A family on Adams Street faces tragedy as George Peterson, a veteran returning from war, learns his young son Buddy Peterson has died of diphtheria just after the father’s long-awaited homecoming. Buddy, known as Buddy Boy, had waited with his mother and relatives in Kenosha for Dad’s return from France, while prayers and wire messages arrived too late. Buddy’s funeral followed his death, sending the family into mourning as the father’s anticipated reunion with his son was cut short by illness and fate.

The Imperial Methods Company operates a new two story pressed brick plant on Circle Avenue opposite the Roos plant with twenty five skilled workers. Owned by F. Butenschney of Oak Park, the 75 by 100 foot facility makes filing cabinets and office supplies for sale from its Forest Park plant. Established twelve years ago, main offices are at 312 Went Madison Street, previously on Lake Street, Chicago. The force is expected to rise as production scales with demand for high grade goods.
The patriotic Service League Girls wowed crowds during the hot Fourth of July celebration with a circus style performance. Local organizer Max Goldstein praised the girls noting they outperformed professional acts and called them a credit to the community, highlighting many named participants and a returning local veteran.
Rudolph Stueher of Lathrop Avenue shot and killed a bandit during a morning at Twenty second Street and Mariem Avenue station. The robber crew demanded money, but Stueher subdued one attacker and faced return fire. A second man identified as Walter Maynond of Chicago was later connected to the incident. Stueher, a railway worker and family man, was hospitalized briefly and returned home.
Adolph Kramer of Forest Park praises the Patriotic Community League for the homecoming gathering that evening. The long serving Navy veteran expresses pride in the community spirit and friendly fellowship. Also announced, Sergeant Arthur G. Kramer arrived aboard the U S S Barbary after a year in France.
A Fourth of July celebration featured Daddy Horn traveling with a group and selling candy. He paid 140 for a pound box, let 100 friends place prizes on the fan to win the box, and collected about 17.00 for Memorial funds. Al Winterroth won the candy prize, and the Community Basket Picnic planned for Sunday, July 10 was postponed.
Forest Park hosts a bustling Fourth of July parade and festival with floats, bands, and community groups. despite a hot day, crowds enjoyed decorative displays, patriotic pageantry, and a fundraiser for Memorial AGW fund. the parade moved through Madison to Meaplainen and Harrison Street, finishing at the fair grounds.
