Knight ordained deacon at 113th Naperville conference
Rev. John Knight of the Forest Park Methodist church was ordained a deacon and reappointed by Bishop J Ralph Magee at the 113th Annual Conference in Naperville. Mrs. Robert Zeller attended as lay delegate, Forest Park received a Certificate of Achievement, and church members accepted it. The conference voted to raise $100,000 for local expansion projects and reported 3090 new members in the Rock River conference since last year.

Slugging Freda Savona of the National Girls Softball League faces a 3 p.m. court appearance before Judge Edward Schultz after an onfield punch to an umpire at Parichy’s last week. Police Chief Claims Peak Efficiency Amid Six Month Totals
Police Chief Joseph Cortino said the force ran at peak efficiency in early 1952. In the first half of the year the department answered 1,084 calls, including 224 route accidents. Navy awards $75,000 for ordnance plant work
Two Navy contracts totaling 75000 dollars were announced by the public information officer. Robert A. Black Inc. of Chicago received 40218 for alterations and new construction to begin July 7 and finish October 41. Henry C. Shaid, Ninth Naval District, Great Lakes, issued the award. Industrial Piping and Engineering Co. of Port Wayne, Indiana, won 35917 dollars for protection-system work on a torpedo factory building.
