Chicago tests a highly dramatic no parking regulation in the Loop drawing sharp criticism from merchants who fear business losses, while drivers praise faster through traffic. City council anticipated opposition but hopes the trial proves effective and sustainable.
The piece argues that parking problems are widespread beyond Chicago and harm business more than bans. It notes drivers skip near traders for long downtown parking, warns owners may park all day blocking stores, and suggests prohibiting parking on boulevards and some home yards to ease traffic.
The cue of Frank G L Smith and the United States Senate became a national issue with accusations arising from his primary victory over William H. McKinley and his general election win over George J. Brennan. Senators voted 61 to 2 against seating Smith. he argues a two step ouster needed, but the two-thirds threshold was not met.
Forest Park Chamber of Commerce endorsed opening Morrison street from DesPlaines Avenue and extending Van Buren west and north to Madison Street. February graduates of Forest Park grade school were recognized in a Proviso Township High auditorium ceremony. Mason gave the oration, urging continued education, while the Proviso High School orchestra provided music and the class sang America the Beautiful.

Boutiques offered many items at or below cost, drawing out of town shoppers from Oak Park River Forest Maywood Hillside and Forest Park. Merchants called it the biggest shopping day of the season, though some retailers said they could have been better prepared and pledged to secure more Dollar Day bargains from wholesalers.
The next Phi Sigma Kappa meeting will be held at Mrs. Lottie O'Day's home at 33 Elgin Avenue and will be devoted to business. The group previously saw Fred and Dorothy Stone in Criss Cross at the Erlanger Thursday evening after a fortune telling fiesta at the Gypsy Tex Room.

Frank Konietzko head of Forest Park Ornamental at 329 Burkhardt Court reports the firm had its most successful year yet. He notes a solid winter work force and new bookings for early spring delivery. Ornamental iron is increasingly used in building and trade as a substitute for wood, valued for both beauty and durability. The original contract for the Manchester Circle Avenue building has been greatly admired.
Village council met briefly and granted a salt drink license to Henry Weiskopf. Two letters praising the Forest Park police for prompt, efficient work were read and ordered spread in the minutes, dated January 17 and January 21 1928, commending officers Hess Hartnick and Police Magistrate Paul Witt for handling prowlers and molesters with diligence.

Robert Devine aged B years died when an automobile struck him Friday in Berwyn. He is the son of Rev. and Mrs. Reubert J. Devine of 1214 Maple Avenue. The coroner’s jury ruled the death accidental and the funeral services were led by Rev. William G. Crook Jr. of Harrion Street Congregational Church with assistors Rev. William McCurrell of Cicero and Rev. Joseph Smith of Chicago. Interment followed at Forest Lawn.
Moore and son Gordon with R J Wallin of Oak Park have leased the Harlem Avenue Garage Forest Park from Greenberg and renamed it Jr Moore & Son. The firm, occupying a 150 foot frontage on Harlem Avenue, will offer general storage, repair, painting and trimming. The building has changed hands several times and sits between Randolph Street and Washington Street.
George A Gibson of the Hines Linker company reported his coupe stolen from in front of 904 LeVerne Avenue Austin Saturday night. Neighbors saw a large car take it away but assumed a repair man acted. Chicago police recovered the car Thursday on a side street, stripped of valuables.
