Trial Narrated as Judge Hears Fietach Ancel Case
The trial of Commissioner John Fietach against Ancel, owner of Circle pool room, was held behind closed doors on June 20. Fietach charged Ancel with slander and defamation. Ancel showed no attorney. The case, expected to lay bare local officials, dissolved into a tune as Ancel pleaded guilty to charges pressed by Commissioner Melsch and was bound to peace with a $100 fine. Witnesses listed by the defense did not testify.

Walter Thode Seriously Injured in Crash Near Deplaines
Walter Thode son of Sir and Mrs August Thode of 7081 Monroe is severely injured after a car he was in was struck from behind by a Paige car on Rand road near Deplaines on the way to Cary Indiana. The Palge sped away. Thode suffered base skull fractures and vertebrae displacement but is reported to be recovering under care at Hastings hospital with possible return home in two weeks.

Mrs Barbara Hoenning of Poport War Ten died suddenly on January 20. Born in Switzerland in 1844 she came to America twenty years ago and has lived in Poport for ten years. Survived by five daughters Bertha Boenning Mex, L. Ealof Mra, Fred R. Behdenfeld of Forest Park Mra 1 Wenkler Wendell Idaho and Bir Palmer St Petersburg Fla. Husband died in Chicago in 1905. Funeral services will be conducted at the residence of Mr and Mrs TL Help 212 Rockford Ave on Saturday June 24 at 1 p m by Rev Wm B Buch. Burial at Woodlawn cemetery.

Army Airplane Crash Near Des Plaines River
An Army airplane bearing number A 2405 piloted by Lieut Jones from Chanute Field encountered trouble while attempting to land near Roosevelt road and First Avenue, Maywood. It nosed into the Des Plaines river bank at the Ravsavolt Tom bridge end. Sergt Paul Beara was a passenger. Both men escaped injury. Pilot unfamiliar with the field and miscalculation of clearance blamed the crash.
