Dimes March Is Tuesday in Forest Park Fund Drive

On Tuesday night January 29 Forest Park residents join the 25th anniversary Mothers March of Dimes led by Mrs. Edward Lusthoff to raise funds for birth defects arthritis and polio research. More than 30 000 volunteers in Chicago and Cook County seek donations and new volunteers are invited to wear the Golden Key and call FO-6-2505.

Board hosts Curriculum Discussion on testing program

The Public Schools Board holds an 8 p.m. curriculum meeting in the Field Stevenson Cafeteria. Edward Bos, Director of Testing from Proviso High, will report on the testing program and discuss ninth grade grouping and assignment. The public is invited.

Pioneer Gottlieb Schwab Dies at 87 in Forest Park

Immigrant craftsman and businessman Gottlieb Schwab, born 1875 in Bad Altenburg Germany, died Monday at 87. He co founded Schwab Brothers in Chicago area, later ran Forest Park Tavern with son Edward, married Mary Hauser in 1906, and leaves daughters Caroline Emma and Edward deceased, with a granddaughter Carol Nelson of Savannah along with surviving brother Christian and sister Caroline in Germany.

Sixteen Files For Village Commissioner Ballot

Local voters face the longest ballot in 12 years with 16 for commissioner and two for mayor on February 26. Mayor William H Meyer faces Howard R Mohr in a likely tight race as incumbents seek reelection alongside Paul Berlin and James Gallagher among others.

McGuire Named Deputy Sheriff and Bailiff in Cook County

Edward C. McGuire of 7715 Wilcox was appointed deputy sheriff by Sheriff Richard B. Ogilvie. He will serve as Bailiff to the Forest Park Municipal Court for a four year term, part of 20 new appointments. McGuire, a 18 year Forest Parker, is a VFW Pom charter member and attends St Bernardine with his wife and two men in their parish community.

Open House at Forest Park Fire Department

The Forest Park Fire Department hosts an open house Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm to view its new Snorkel apparatus and the firequarters addition. Free coffee and doughnuts will be served. Snorkel demonstrations occur Friday 6 pm to 8 pm at Forest Park National Bank and Saturday at Joseph Reichmann Realty Co.

Seventh Annual Lite League Dance At Moose Hall Sat

The seventh annual Lite League dance will be at Moose Hall Saturday night to raise funds for Forest Park Lite League by furnishing uniforms insurance and equipment. Tickets cost 1.00 and are available by calling Bob Heggie FO 6 5738. The party starts at 8 30 p.m.

Public meetings set on Proviso area junior college plan

The Board of Education District 209 approved public hearings to share information on a proposed area junior college. Meetings are Jan 31 at Proviso East auditorium and Feb 1 at Proviso West Little Theater. Residents from six districts will hear survey findings supporting the community college and technical institute proposal.

Dr John Hanover from Forest Park becomes president of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. He is an Ohio State University 1946 graduate and former president of the Aux Plaines Interprofessional Council.
