Mrs Clara M Livermore widow of Clarence Liversore longtime Forest Park resident died at her Maywood home 1645 Venth avenue on Saturday January 12 1928 after three years ill health She was born August 28 184 and formerly Miss Clara Peglow She survived by husband two children a son Leslie a daughter Mrs Kath Winslow grandchild Lewis Winslow and siblings William August Frank Mrs A Livermore and Mrs George McFeeley Funeral services were at her residence in Maywood and at St John Lutheran Forest Park Rev Marcus Wagner officiating Burial was Woodlawn cemetery Remains of Christian Schulse former Forest Park resident were brought from Minnesota for burial at Forest Home January 7.
St John Men’s club held a Wednesday gathering with Ja Oveywyell speaking on Forces That Win. Rev Marcus Wagner offered a history talk, and entertainment included singing and a HS public service film show. About UK members attended and Harvey C Hexhall arranged the program with lunch following.
Police picked up Alphonse Curis of MHIW Madison Street Chicago on Roosevelt Road early Wednesday. He appeared mentally and physically distressed, likely from hunger and exposure. He is 35 to 40, a member of the Moose Lodge Chicago. Charlen Bein Dicke of Proving was reported. Authorities sought shelter and sustenance for the man.
Kiwanis club installed officers last Tuesday during a Ladies Night event at Focal Park. Hon. Michael Zimmes of Chicago Kiwanis officiated with Edward H. Blatter introducing him. Helen M. Zimmerman performed humorous recitations, and M Edward Kienappel showcased Hawaiian slides and travel footage.
M Szymczak will address the Sunday Evening Forum at Community Methodist Church located at Tintas Avenue and Adams Street. Lions Club will host a luncheon in the church basement, then move to the main auditorium for a program directed by C R Husacy, KG Crossley, and Rev Ira Livingston with Lions quartet and Jack Brennan solos.
The council rejected lone bids for paving on Madison Street and River Forest side routes, noting lack of real competition among bidders. Harold Wieonj and George D. Hardin led the remaining bids, with $899.40 cited for one project. Officials plan to receive new bids Monday evening in January 1929 and assign a committee to study elevation of railroad tracks through town.
Forest Park cats dominate the Hereford Cat club show at Hotel Sherman three weeks ago. Ivo-Rea of Foxboro owned by Mrs. Clare Schwader won first in shaded silver neuter and top red white blue ribbon as best neuter. Katherine Tangela with four kittens owned by Mrs. Bessie Nelson earned second prize in red tabby and kittens class.
