Mayor Howard Mohr will discuss the current state of Forest Park during the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce luncheon at Homer's Restaurant. The event starts at noon Tuesday, with nonmembers invited. Mohr is in his fourth term as mayor, having previously served 1963 to 1967 and 1969 to 1975 then elected again in 1971.
Triton College offers three weekend courses for the spring semester American Government Introduction to Psychology and Principles of Effective Speaking Each course is three semester hours and transferable Five weekend meetings run from February 18 to April 16 with Friday evening and Saturday sessions Tuition is 39 dollars for in district residents plus a 2 dollar registration fee Enrollment is through the Admissions Office Assistant Dean Ralph Robling can be contacted at 456 0300 ext 601 for more information
The Forest Park Community Chest will hold its annual meeting on Thursday January 20 at 7 30 pm at St Pauls Lutheran Church 7416 Dixon Enter oo Brown Ave All donors are members invited to attend A president and secretary to serve two years will be elected at this meeting
The Triton College Student Association hosts two panel discussions by young lawyers from the Chicago Bar Association Community Education Committee. All sessions are free for students and residents. The first panel, on January 20 at 7 30 p m in the Willow Room, explores law as a profession and covers law school prep selecting a school, law school life and early career job finding.
Municipal crews in Forest Park worked nonstop this weekend to clear snow. A Monday morning check on Madison Street showed active plowing and attention to side streets, illustrating a swift, comprehensive response and a job well done.
Forest Park trustees approve a special sidewalk tax to spur repairs in business districts. Commissioner Lambke scolded Zayre Forest Park Plaza for refusing to participate while two other tenants along Des Plaines and nearby businesses agreed to fund or perform improvements. He warned legal action could follow to enforce compliance.
Proviso Township High School districts require a Social Security number for all Driver Education applicants at Proviso East and Proviso West. Freshmen are urged to apply promptly as applications cannot be processed without the SSN.
