Arthur Olsen of the Art Olsen Office Supply company in Madison was elected president of the Park Chamber of Commerce at the December 8 board meeting. Tomary Book Shop’s Toy Qiseh named first vice president, Edward Anderson of Circle Bowling Lane second vice president, Cliffors Marquardt of Virst Savings and Loan as treasurer, and Howard Schlicting re-elected secretary. Installations set for January 25 at the Chateau in Lyons. Olsen and Willis Reich named to the auditing committee. Forest Park Chamber seeks parking solution with Howard Sammon and village merchants meeting with the village council to plan a threewheel motorcycle and limited parking enforcement.

Bert Aldrich a resident of Forest Park since 1920 and former design engineer died December 20 at 827 Thomas Avenue He was born in 1866 in Defhes Michigan and is survived by his widow a daughter Mrs Winand Thompson of West Allis a stepson Charles Downing four grandchildren and three great grandchildren Services were held December 29 at Drechsler Chapel with Dr Lou Wallace officiating.

Burglarize Four Places Here Over Christmas Week
Christmas weekend brought a spate of burglaries in Forest Park as four homes and businesses were targeted. Victims include Mrs. Vincent Taluriea who reported a break in at 7345 Lehmer, with $600 in jewelry taken. Mrs. H. McAvoy at 7207 Roosevelt with a back door entry and rummaged rooms but no theft found. Harlem Market at 7206 Roosevelt robbed of cash and produce scattered, and Barr and Collins lumber yard doors broken after intruders entered December 27.

Employee Wins High Award for $1000 Bond at GM Electro Motive
Harry Jacknow, 40, of 7452 Franklin, one of 11 Electro Motive Division workers to gain a $1000 U S Savings Bond under the GM Suggestion Plan. GM reports over $5,000,000 in awards since inception. 555,000 suggestions submitted, about 23 percent usable. Jacknow, a blacksmith since 1942, has five accepted suggestions totaling $1,383.71 and earned the top bond for a die to form gear pockets. He and his wife Catherine plan to use the bond for their son Harry’s education.

Christmas Tree Sale Nets $500 For Joint Groups
The Dry Doll organization and the Thank A Yank committee report about $300 each from selling Christmas trees this year. They thank J Marquardt’s firm for use of the Joint Martison and Desplaines and all purchasers who supported the venture. Local Couple Sues Over Rent Overcharges
A Wisconsin court case features Erwin and Florence Sehucit and Leo and Florence Del Wade suing for 1,233.84 in overcharges with treble damages of 3,701.52 under rent act. They allege renting a rear second floor room since December 11 1946 with a weekly ceiling of four dollars but paying thirteen and later occupying combined rear rooms at a 124 dollar monthly ceiling.

Local Man Waives Parole and Future Action Protested
John Hogenauer a Forest Park resident aged 40 who pled guilty to embezzling 428 000 from his bank while facing a one year and one day sentence was to be considered by the federal parole board at Terre Haute. Parole officials investigated the request with Attorney Edward B. Lane and Rev Erwin F Paul advising. State’s Attorney John S Boyle objected to parole citing his refusal to testify in a connected gambling case. Parole recommendation to be presented at the next Terre Monte board meeting in January.

Bartender Injured After Fall on Desplaines Corner
Leonard Otte, a bartender at Desplaines and Madison, was hospitalized after a fall on the lee while going to work. He suffered a deep laceration of the eye and was taken to Oak Park General.
