Forest Park Chamber Banquet Shines With Jokes And Honors

The Forest Park Chamber of Commerce held its 31st annual banquet at Mangams Chateau with Father LeVay's jokes and a lively chorus. 488 tickets were sold. Homer Bale of Homer's Restaurant received the first Man of the Year Award from Robert Conkin, FCP president, as surprises and gratitude flowed among longtime directors and local officials.

Homer Bale Receives First Man of the Year Award

Homer Bale, owner of Homer's Restaurant, was named first annual Man of the Year by Forest Park Lodge 24 of the Fraternal Order of Police. The ceremony occurred at the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce banquet on February 18, with a plaque praising his community aid and generosity.

Maples Announces Two Candidacies For March 27 Primary

Independent Democratic candidate E. Gary Maples challenges two offices in the March 27 primary for the 10th District Congress and Proviso Township Committeeman. A campaign rally is set for February 28 at 4:00 p.m. at VFW Post 7181 Forest Park. Rally chairman is Mrs. Robert Etheridge. Admission is 5.00 at the door or by calling 344-0424.

H S Exams Announced for GED in Cook County

Robert P. Hanrahan announces GED examinations for adults over 19 in Cook County. Registration is March 2 1970 from 7 to 9 PM in Triton College River Grove. Exams run March 13 14 and 20 with a $5 fee covering all sessions.

The Forest Park Board of Education invites the public to an Open House at the Field Stevenson Annex and the new Special Education facility. The event runs from 1 00 p m to 6 00 p m on March 8 with coffee and donuts available.

Proviso GOP Women Host Candidate Screening at Broadview Hall

The Proviso Republican party and the Women’s Republican Organization invite the public to a joint meeting at Broadview American Legion Hall. Speakers include Bernard Carey for Sheriff, Ben Adamowski for County Assessor, and Peter Petrovich for Board of Appeals. Also attending are Marshall Quandt, State Senator Howard Mohr, Representatives Hoffman and Walsh, and Congressman Collier. Refreshments served before the March 7 primary.

Collier Announces New Job Programs

Rep Harold R Collier announces two government job programs from Health Education and Welfare and the Civil Service Commission. Eligibility requires college graduates or related experience for HEW posts and a summer internship for juniors and seniors with a 3.5 GPA, with nominations via colleges due February 28 1970.
