A second registration for the remaining players will be announced. Major leagues are expected to drop to five teams and minors to seven due to a shortage of 12 year old players.

Post Office Burglary Ties to Local String of Thefts
Postmaster Mel Mader reported the local post office was entered by expert burglars. An unsuccessful attempt to break into safes holding stamps and money followed, with a basket of mail scattered, a pistol stolen, and a coin machine rifled. Police and FBI linked the gang to other area break-ins.

Forest Park Council Plans Library Building and Zoning Variations
The Forest Park village council met last Saturday and approved purchasing a vacant building at 338 Desplainey for future library use. The village will rent the current flats until a library is needed. Tom Capalety requested a 3 family at 1111 Hannah, sent to the zoning board, and a 4 unit at 902 Circle was also reviewed. Several ordinances were passed including duties for the Commissioner of Public Health and Safety. The council approved selling three ancient vintage trucks valued at $3.
