Thomas Kammerling, a 15 year old sophomore, won Forest Park Memorial Post 7281 VFW Voice of Democracy for his speech on My Responsibility to Freedom. He received a $50 savings bond after placing 4th in the district competition among 15 suburban high schools, with Charles A Bruhn presenting the award.

Local Police Nab 2 After Hillside Theft
Forest Park police responding to a Hillside theft set positions on the Eisenhower Expressway and halted a suspect car at Ridgeland Avenue Oak Park. Officers Richard Hisluk and Nick Mattel pursued an eastbound vehicle and arrested two Chicago suspects released to Hillside police for strong arm theft. Some stolen items were found. other evidence was recovered from the car.
