During Lent Christians journey to the cross in spirit as churches tell the Passion story. The message stresses reconciliation and peace through Christ’s sacrifice, and that believers are called to live a life modeled by grace and ongoing participation in Christ’s victorious work.
Quoted passage urges continuing Jesus work to reconcile not only with God but also with fellow humans. Emphasizes the call to practice ongoing reconciliation in interpersonal relations and community life.
The Lady Knorkers Klub held a baby shower for Betty Atkinson's baby on Friday evening February 16 at 446 Thomas. Thirty one members attended. Red and white decorations marked the Valentine theme. Prizes were won by Frances Pergler Clara Schwader Anna Schichthelz June Adams Catherine Peth Sally Kolzow Gert Koepple Florence Reitz Esther Pries Bea Guthrie Bessie Curran Sylvia Buck. Eve Rose and her committee served fruit salad and heart shaped cake with a nut cup. Esther Pries presented Betty Atkinson a yellow baby blanket and kimono. The business meeting is set for March 2.
Chemist J McGuire of Av onne laboratories will discuss the atom bomb at the Forest Lions Club meeting this Thursday February 23. He will screen a color sound film Operations Crossroads and lead a Q A session afterward. Two additional films on the atom bomb will follow the regular program. New Forest Lions members welcomed at the last meeting include Paul Berlin Jack Cummins Harry Kay and Dr Ed Piszcrek.
Harlem Mannerchor sponsors its annual card party on Sunday evening February 26 at Schwab’s hall 7218 Madison. Games begin at 5 o’clock and dancing follows at 8 o’clock in the evening.
Forest Park Kiwanis club recently initiated seven persons as new members. The new members include Irwin Faust of Faust Hoym Frederic Ehringer funeral director Joseph Kline wholesale grocer Ray Hanson sporting goods Ray Ratajak banker Clifford Marquardt Savings and Loan association and Elmer Schnurstein police lieutenant.
An invitation notes that music will be furnished and refreshments will be served, with the message encouraging all to attend.
