A Field Stevenson PTA sponsored hat sale is planned for Wednesday February 26 at the Park Building from 1 to 8 p.m. Hats are priced at 3.98 dollars. Admission is free and coffee will be served.
The Rifle Club receives recognition at an addroll night Friday at the VFW Hall in Forest Park. Scouts from Forest Park and parents join Thatcher Woods officials and town leaders. Robert Schulze earns the Americanism Medal for saving his siblings from a house fire. Scout Commissioner Guy Engell receives a scouting unique award. Elwell, longtime Troop 108 scout master, is recalled for his decade of leadership.
The final 1964 Lite League registration will be held at the Park on Saturday and Sunday from 244 pan. The $2 fee covers insurance. Eligible players are boys aged 6 before Aug 1, 1964 and under 11 before Aug 4, 1964, with prior Little League participation and parental accompaniment required.
Major Andre B D Koson retired from the U S Army after 21 years of service at a ceremony at Fort Hamilton Brooklyn New York. He and his wife Louise reside at 1000 Finley Lombard and recently returned from a posting with Headquarters Allied Forces Southern Europe Naples Italy where he received the Oak Leaf cluster to the Army Commendation Ribbon. He enlisted in November 1942 after graduating from the College of Advanced Traffic.
The Forest Park Civil Air Patrol Open House on Friday featured Major Howard Mohr Major Harold Blough Commander Group 23 Civil Air Patrol Major James Sully Warrant Officer Fred Uyevier Col Howard Kneaskern and Staff Sgt. William Connor. Attendees included Mariner Ship Challenge members Margo Pinkowski Jan Goldstein Sue Thorsen and Claire Rummel. The program showcased CAP displays talks by Rosemary Ruge film The Civil Air Patrol Story and awards to outstanding squadron members.
The March 21 referendum would raise 15 cents per 100 of assessed value to fund a new community college and technical institute. A 3 cent bond would cover land and plant costs totaling about 6 million dollars with 1125 dollars per student annual operating costs.
Susan Wolf daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Wolf will star as the queen in the Jack and Jill Players production of Sleeping Beauty. The show comes Sunday at 3 PM in the theatre at 218 Wabash Chicago. Wolf is in the 4th grade at Grant White and is completing her third season of dramatic study.
