Forest Park fought hard but fell to Hegewisch 2–0 in a tight season finale. The game featured Hegewisch’s stronger line and key plays by Otto Fuehmeyer and Brischke, while Forest Park battled with limited backs and injuries, ending the campaign with a narrow defeat.
The Madison Street Boosters club will hold its annual meeting at De Lure Restaurant on Friday evening January 12, 1923 at 7 o'clock, with Chairman Henry Rieck presiding. Dinner will be served, officers to be elected, and speakers Sheriff Peter Hoffman and Lawrence Whiting are billed along with entertainer Harry McAvoy. Reservations for 135 guests.
Forest Park prepares for a new Jackson Boulevard service station at the southwest corner of Jackson boulevard and Des Dinknes avenue. Owned by Mrs T Hansen and Jas A Stanton the brick and concrete filling station features 20 foot outer drives 50 foot internal drives a green red white color scheme twenty three electric lights Kelastone signage and Sinclair Refining products.
A stove caused a small ceiling fire at 282 Deuptakes Avenue Wednesday morning, promptly stopped by Forest Park firemen. Christmas Eve fire at 616 Grove Avenue, Oak Park destroyed Ralph Weyburn’s residence. neighbors praised the Forest Park department for preventing spread. Henry J Mohr announces that after year start FH J Mohr Maple Ave and Harrison St Oak Park and Forest Park Oval Supply Co Hungal Ave and Roosevelt Rd Forest Park will be renamed Sfonry J Mote snd Syn Roy 20 and Carl 22 join as partners. Mohr survived a serious August accident from a falling beam, with months of recovery and return to work. Roy has worked in the office for five years. Curt the younger son will join to advance the family business.
Ming Laura White daughter of Mr and Mrs W J Dainloger and Gerald B Sindler of Oak Park will marry in Chicago on Saturday January 6 1023. Clare Hochmuth daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Hochmuth and Walter Hilgenburg of Forest Park to wed at the bride’s parents’ home on a Saturday evening in January 1028. Mrs T A Hansen of the Amusement Park Garage thanks friends and patrons for support and wishes a prosperous New Year.
Forest Park merchants reported the greatest holiday trade in town history as crowds swarmed Madison Street. Stores stayed jammed through the last week and Saturday evening, with merchants displaying a wide line of advertised goods and praising vigilant buying patrons.
Chorge Pyott Jr, son of a wealthy Oak Park manufacturer and former village president, accidentally fatally wounded Everett Baker, 11, during rabbit hunting on the Pyott farm near Algonquin. The group, including Pyott and other Oak Park students, recounts the incident as the boy died en route to St Joseph’s hospital. an inquest was ordered.
The Harlem State Savings Bank held its annual banquet for officers and employees in the directors rooms on Thursday night. A fine dinner was served, speeches and music followed. William F. Grosser, the bank president, received a gold brass check set and Mrs. Grosser a plant. Officers and employees were awarded a ten percent bonus.
Louie Coudoux Toury Coudoicc aged seventy four died at his daughter Mra. Wil, Tred J. Moyet, 25 Lathrop avenue River Forest after buying bees for none time. Survived by William Coudoux and Mra. Eugene Jugoux in Forest Park. He married Miss Marialene Dutewiple in 1877 in France and later moved to Chicago where children were born. Funeral held at St. Like's Church with Rev. McDonald officiating and burial beside his wife at Forest Home cemetery. He had traveled to France recently, his eighth trip, and saw many changes since the war. Friends offered condolences to the family.
The Associated Charities of Forest Park received two donations this past week. Phi Beta Kappa member Gertrude Habbeln, secretary, gave $10. A Vera Warner, secretary at the Chatterbox Fink, donated $5.00.
Community church services and home gatherings mark New Year in Forest York with evening religious events and modest refreshments. The Pocust Fork club plans a dinner dance at the club house Sunday night as two holiday days extend celebrations amid varying weather and festive customs.
A Forest Park hunting party came home Saturday night after three weeks in a snowbound region near Townsend Wisconsin. They carried fifty two furs twenty five rabbits two deer and one shank. The group includes Jay Brawabet Nusler Wilfred Payette and Frank Jolson with Mr and Mrs Harry Bowman. They plan another trip in early spring and intend to celebrate with a social gathering funded by August Schulte.
The annual masquerade of the royal Order of Moosy Proviso Lodge 245 will be held January 20 at Forest Park ballroom. Prizes reward best and most comical dressed groups with 11 or more members and other categories.
Forest Park post office reports over 90 000 pieces of mail handled during Christmas week. Pontmanter Mulwuria credits carriers for Christmas Eve midnight shifts and all day Christmas Day deliveries. Several other towns failed to clear backlogs as the week wore on. Officials anticipate January readiness to dispatch mail directly.
