Five days remain before Christmas as Madelton Street stores lure shoppers with gift ideas. Departments offer leather goods, beaded bags, lingerie, robes, gloves, hardware, perfumes, embroidery sets, toys, and candy baskets. Stores promote household items, jewelry, records, instruments, and radios, with prices from $1 to $21 and many gift options for the whole family.
Forest Park Chamber of Commerce adopts a new constitution after a late night meeting. Fifteen directors elected for one to three year terms. Georges F. Armbrust named president. About forty members attend as Sheriff Weldeling urges stricter crime penalties and better officer staffing. Directors will oversee monthly meetings and finances with Reich as head of the new business office at 7421 Madison Street.
Members of the Pioneer Presbyterian church welcomed Rev. Ira L. Livingston of Rushville who preached last Sunday. A church committee and session met after the morning service and decided to call a congregational meeting next Sunday to formally extend a pastorate offer to Livingston. All interested are invited to attend.
The Forest Park State Bank at its December meeting declared a regular dividend of five percent for the month and an extra five percent. Combined with a five percent dividend in July, this brings the total yearly dividend to fifteen percent. The bank will announce soon the form of a Christmas gift to its employees.
The Mortimer Fuston Cab Company of Oak Park has taken out a permit to operate five cabs in Forest Park. Their cars will be known as the Bine Cab. They will likely station a man on Madinon Street and another near the elevated station on Der platnes.

George Wilhelm and Norman Bock will open an automotive service station at 427-2 Desplaines Avenue in a newly built cement block on the corner of Monroe Street. The business expands from Wilhelm Tire and Battery of Chicago with batteries starting, lighting, ignition, vulcanizing, and free crank case service, plus accessories and new Atwater Kent Hadly parts. A reception will be held next Monday for friends to inspect the facility. Herman Hann, former county official, was injured by a fall on an icy sidewalk recently.
The school board bought fourteen lots on Murengo avenue between Thirteenth and Fourteenth for school use at 4750 dollars. President J Wolk led the purchase, acquiring some parcels below the estimate as options expired. Four lots remain unsold but not needed, with condemnation possible if required. Aimed to ease congestion at Field Stevenson and provide a grade school on the south side. Building planned next spring, pending funds. A special meeting approved the action. a school nurse will be hired for two months, paid by the Cook County Tuberculosis Association, with a two week holiday vacation starting Friday.
A village council meeting ends with Chief Hor tha Hrown ousted and no interim chief named. Two other officers are removed and resignations submitted. mayor says temporary command will be by desk sergeants while a police chief is debated and pension options explored.
