Ten boys received Kiwanis awards at a banquet at Homer's Restaurant, celebrating the season with the Elmer Schaurstein Memorial Trophy to John Rowan as Varsity MVP. Other Varsity honors went to Jack Riley, Tony Reeves, Dale Goetz, and Mike Bates. Widgets honors went to Keith Waldersen, Jim Lamb, Dave Heinz, Dan Conway, and Brian Gallagher.

Forest Lions Decorate Outside of Homes for Christmas Contest
Forest Lions finalize plans for a civic Christmas outside-decorating contest with first prize of 25 dollars, second prize of 15 dollars, plus plaques for winner and runner up. Judges are James Stangs, Dick Kimball, and Don Borman. Winners chosen December 21.

Wrong Slant On School Funds Request Contested
Forest Park Superintendent Arthur Jones refutes last week's REVIEW report on the districts request for relief funds. He says no sum was specified and no pressure was placed on the village council. The district explores diverting revenue from the Illinois income tax to reduce the deficit. He notes last year required borrowing $500 000 and expects a smaller need to finish the year ending June 30 1973 amid continued deficit projections.

Rites Held For Nick Giannotti Restaurateur
Funeral services for Nick Giannotti a nationally known east Park restaurateur were held yesterday after his death while visiting relatives in Italy Burial took place at Queen of Heaven Cemetery Giannotti 63 hosted many famous guests including Jimmy Durante Connie Francis Ricardo Montalban and Vic Damone He is survived by his widow Mary two sons and three daughters.

Santa Claus to visit Forest Park Saturday in town kickoff
Santa Claus arrives at 10 30 AM from a rooftop landing near Circle and Madison to greet youngsters. He will distribute gifts with helpers and visit Roosevelt and Elgin at 11 30 AM to meet south side children. Afterward all kids go to the American Legion Hall at Circle Avenue for free refreshments and a continued cartoon show.

103rd Birthday Celebrated at Altenheim
Mrs. Bertha Lietz, the oldest resident, celebrated her 103rd birthday at Altenheim German Old Peoples Home. Born November 27, 1869 in Germany, she came to the United States at 16, settled in Chicago, married at 24, and has two sons one living in New York. She has resided at Altenheim since 1960 and remains active and healthy.

Traffic Fines Up 60 Percent in 1972 October Totals
Forest Park collected $5,692 from traffic fines during October under Cook County Circuit Court, part of $48,947 earned in the first ten months of 1972. The year shows a more than 60 percent increase over 1971. Oak Park reports $51,108 and Berwyn $25,056 for the same period.
