Harlem and Forest Park volunteers cheer service men at Great Lakes Naval Hospital
Ten volunteers from the Harlem Maennerchor and Forest Park Commender visited Great Lakes Naval Hospital before Thanksgiving. They distributed coffee and cookies and played games with about 600 men. They donated two portable type writers, 300 leathercraft kits, and 400 paint by number pictures for patient use. The Board of Directors of ALTENHEIM German Old Peoples Home Forest Park launches a $1 million campaign chaired by Fred A. Deuss of Wilmette. Funds will finish a 46 bed infirmary with dining and nursing stations and upgrade other 20acre campus buildings built since 1882.
