Increase Benefits in Circuit Breaker Law Enacted
State Sen. Richard Walsh backed and the legislature enacted a higher Circuit Breaker benefit for homeowners and renters over 65 or disabled with incomes under 10 000. House Bill 44 signed by Gov Gav Thompson at the State Fair raises the annual benefit to 150 and takes effect December 31 1877 with first payments in 1978 based on 1977 tax bills. In fiscal 1977 254244 claimants received 51.5 million under the program.
