At a Monday village council session Mayor Kant led a discussion on graft tied to an oil station permit. The meeting, attended by residents, questioned alleged payments and transfers, with no decisive denials from the mayor and several unrelated permit approvals afterward.
Henry J Mohr of 497 Murvengo avenue Forest Park was crushed under a large beam while cleaning a yard tool. He sustained a broken wrist bone and other injuries. He was removed to Oak Ward hospital and later to a Forest Park home as his condition permitted.
Mullany, superintendent of the Provise Township high school, underwent an operation for appendicitis with complications at West Bubir hospital Friday Aug 19. The condition was serious and he is resting comfortably, with family and friends hopeful for a speedy recovery.
Village contest over a public thoroughfare along Marin Street stalls progress as Village Attorney Daniel Montey prepares a report. Winterrath and ARK retain a lawyer to defend landowners. Clerical parties argue 80 percent of improvement costs fall on nearby property owners while the village bears the rest as a public benefit. Court action likely to decide if the route becomes a public highway.
The Madison Street Boosters met at the Deluxe restaurant with Henry R. Bleck presiding. Attendees discussed adding street lighting, benches, auto parking spaces, and banner permissions for the Chi-Cook fair, with funding shared by local merchants and city officials backing the project.
Obituary for A. Cummings aged eighty detailing his career as a real estate and insurance operator. Survived by widow and six deceased children, with three grandchildren living with their parent in Lombardyville. Founder and third president of the Chicago real estate board. Funeral services from his residence Friday with named pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Stephen Obermayer, 46, of Uintadale HL and formerly of Pore eat Dark, lwomed away Friday, Aug. 15, 1022, at his home after an illness. The Obermayer family, long based in Movest Pack, moved from Forest Park to Tirsdale in 1918. Surviving are his widow Katherine and daughter Mrs J. J. Newman. Interment at Waldheta. The family is well known in the community and many friends extend sympathy.
Helen Wolf infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Gustave Wolf of 7505 Pinitis Street died August 22 after a summer illness. The eleven month old child received funeral services Thursday led by Rev Mareng Wagner of St John's Church. Interment followed at Concordia Cemetery.
Mr and Mrs Henry Schlichting announce the arrival of their son on Saturday August 12 at Adame Street. The infant is named Henry R Jr and is described as a pride and joy to the family.
Partial paving continues on Harlem Avenue with cement foundation laid ahead of asphalt layers. The American Asphalt Drive company works on Roosevelt Road as well, tearing up old tracks and preparing the street with similar materials, while streetcar rails are removed in stages.
School children must attend designated school sites between 9am and noon and 1pm to receive health certificates. Dr EB Muex low Brosman presides. Events listed at Eugene Field School, Grant School, and Bebodke Nave on specified dates in August and September.
