The public school summer band concert will be at the Park at 7 30 p.m. on Aug. 14. Members are summer band students from beginners to advanced junior high. If rain interrupts, the concert will be moved to Aug. 16.
Paul Sansone 51 longtime Forest Park resident died at 821 Thomas after a long illness. He aided local civic causes and served with the Forest Park Police Department. A life member of the Chicago Rifle Club and Kiwanis LaGrange member, he and wife ran Town Book Shop. Funeral July 30 at St Bernardine's Church with interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery. Survived by wife Flor, mother Virginia, brothers Charles and Joseph, sister Josephine, and niece and nephew Janet and Bob Sansone. The Proviso Base Summer Swim program concluded a six week session enrolling 270 youths aged 7 to 14. top performer Nancy Caton received a plaque.
Township Collector William Collins Jr reminds taxpayers that the second installment is due before September 1. After that date a 1 percent penalty will be charged each month. Payments may be made at the local bank or at the Collector's office.
The regular meeting of the Board of Education will be held Friday at 8 p.m. in the Board Office at the Field Stevenson School located at 925 Beloit, Maywood.
The senior citizens club adjourned for August and will resume activities on September 3. Local residents interested in membership may call Alfred Dinkel at FO 6 1324.
A Sept 14 exam will fill vacancies on the local police and fire departments. Local residents aged 21 to 30 may pick up applications at the Village Clerk’s office 517 Desplaines. Harold Blough, chairman, says jobs offer excellent working conditions good pay a pension plan and civil service protection. More details are in the public notice.
Senior pictures for the 64 Proviso East yearbook were scheduled for the weeks beginning Monday Aug 19 and Monday Aug 26 in Room 153 Women’s Lounge. Enter via the courtyard door near the faculty dining room and room 24. August photos can be used for Christmas gifts. later dates not guaranteed. Receptionists on site include Linda Rhode, Pat Berndt, Shirley Vollmer, Sharon Siseon, Louise Werltz, and Ler ryn Chase. If a student misses the appointment they may call Ext 220 to reschedule.
