A north side resident claimed ten dollars for tomato vine damage by a fire truck using an alley shortcut. An August 15 hearing on West Towns fare increases was noted. They were traced to a Melrose Park poolroom where Holwerg Nutmeyer 21 and Charles Martino 28 of Melrose Park and Albert Petie 23 of Bellwood admitted their gang membership. Police are seeking three other suspects.

War Expert Col Brinkerhoff Dead at Oak Park Home
Col Brinkerhoff, veteran military officer and former professor of military science at the University of Chicago, died Wednesday at 817 Capton Avenue Oak Park after months of ill health.
