Camp Kiwanis Woods Dedicated With Festive Sunday Program

Kiwanis clubs of Chicago area plan a Sunday dedication for Kiwanis Woods in Derr Grove forest preserve. The event features a concert by Alberti's Batty concert band, children's entertainment, boxing exhibitions, games, and a song festival led by Lt. Gov. Bob Teeter and Harry Clolecy. Local officials will speak, a carved imperial boulder and a tall flagpole will be unveiled, with proceeds and refreshments provided on site.

Second Installment of 1998 Taxes Due Now

Willian T Calling Jr, collector of Peoviser Township, announces the second installment of the 1934 tax is due from August 1 to 21. Payments accepted at 416 Madison Street Maywood from 9am to 6pm or at Bellwood State Bank and La Grange State Trust and Savings Bank. Local payments speed collections and reduce interest on bonds and warrants.

The Forest Park Baseball Museum opens with a week long dedication starting August 24 at Parichy stadium in celebration of Baseball’s 100 Year Centennial. Democrat Picnic Set for August 26

The Regular Democratic organization of Proviso will hold its annual picnic August 20 at Altenheim grove under Joseph J. Lelivelt with Proviso Young Democrats and allied clubs. Forest Park Repeals Police Chief Abolition

Forest Park council repealed the ordinance abolishing the police chief office and re established the post at Monday night session. The move followed circulating petitions and public pressure with 23 registered voters and a high supporter count for Chief Licht. Commissioner Calcagno and Dannenberg supported the repeal while Mayor Collis voted yes and Commissioner Berliner also voted yes. Hoffman was absent.
