Tre Man Hamlet Meant- It Was a Man
Book reviews praise a sweeping epic of youth and struggle for Gordon Blake from boy to journalist and thinker in early America, contrasting life and society while tracing his growth amid harsh environments from Poland to California. Also reviewed is The Painted Wall by W Somerset Maugham, a stark, tightly plotted study of fidelity and choice in a cholera-ridden city, rendered with clinical realism.
