Forest Park Chamber of Commerce officers launch The Prize of the Month sales contest to reward a lucky subscriber with a 1957 refrigerator or comparable appliance. Prizes to be displayed around May 1 with further details to follow from member stores and participating firms.
Field-Stevenson PTA met April 9 with Canin Aristocrats four footed friends yearbus breeds at the gym. A 7 PM night at Grant-White school gymnasium was planned with tickets from members or at the door. Forest Park residents were urged to attend and enjoy baked goods and games while congratulating Mrs Harold Whelpley on her school board victory.
Jean Schulz hosted a April 12 birthday party for her son Denis at 7452 Warren Chicago area home. Guests included Mrs. Rosalyn Blazek and son Steven of 145 Marengo Miss Margaret Schwarz of 7450 Warren and Miss Catherine Crudele of River Grove. A dinner with birthday cake followed as slides of Florida Colorado South Dakota and Canada were shown.
Tlona Marie Gardner daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank E Gardner Forest Park Illinois married Robert Jane son of the late Mr Frank Malone of Berwyn Bernardine Catholic Forest Park. Bride a Providence High School Oak Park Hospital School of Nursing graduate. Groom Morton High School University of Illinois MS in mechanical engineering. After a Miami wedding trip they reside in Berwyn.
The office of the village clerk will be closed all day on Friday April 18. Charles Clock hes announced.
Volunteers will solicit funds for the 1987 Cancer drive starting Wednesday evening April 24. Campaign chairman Fred P. Trage of Forest Park West Suburban chapter cites a new era of opportunity in cancer research and urges increased donations for this year’s Crusade. A list of volunteers appears on page 12.
Blanche Kos of 1590 Marengo earned four second place medals at the Central AAU meet over the weekend. She represented Sokol Tabor of Berwyn and placed in the high balance beam parallel bars vaulting horses and all-around contest. The event took place at the University of Chicago.
Easter Day service at 11 o clock at the First Presbyterian Church features Henrietta Kracalik Murphy singing Ride On Ride On by J P Scott. The Westminster Choir performs Easter music including Hail His Triumph by Fred B Holton. Dr Lou Wallace Gade delivers a sermon titled The Sepulchre in the Garden. Choir directed by Mrs Ethel Russell. A Good Friday Communion service offers a reception for new-term ETB.
The Forest Park 15 to 18 year old national boys program will continue this summer under a new sponsor with negotiations nearly finished for the firm’s first athletic team sponsorship. League officers expect one of three requests to be settled this weekend, completing arrangements.

Mrs. Marie Neske of 7716 Adams spent her birthday on April 6 at her daughter and husband Roy McCreary home in Broadview. The following Saturday April 1a Ernest Neske celebrated his birthday in the same residence with guests Roy and Linda McCreary Joseph Dann Patricia of Park Forest and Mrs M McCreary. Birthday cake was served at both events.
Mr and Mrs John Scotton of 435 Jackson concluded a six week Florida vacation. They traveled by train via St Petersburg to see friends and then visited the John Sut eliffes formerly of Forest Park now in Sarasota. They stopped to visit the Arthur Crabbes, also former Forest Park residents, joined by their daughter and husband and two grandsons before driving home together.
Mrs Rose Breseman of 916 Thomas was stricken at home on a Monday in April and rushed to Oak Park hospital where she stayed a week. She has returned home and is improving.
Secretary of State Charles F. Carpentier presents the final records management survey to leaders of both General Assembly houses and sponsors. The report credits the program with saving the state about 850 thousand dollars, a 58 percent return on investment.
Mathilde Petersohn and Harold Whelpley win seats on Forest Park board of education. Petersohn, Whelpley lead a four candidate field with 13 write ins total. Herbert Starch elected president and Dolores Holub named secretary. Proviso high school board adds Fred E. Meyer and Dr. Louis Seno. Frank Vertuno fails to win a seat.
A Washington visitor Gien Pegiau flew to Washington early in the week on business.
