Edith Heilam reports the ER people’s society of First Presbyterian church staged The Family Upstairs a three act comedy by Harry Delf before 300 plus viewers at Provivo Moose temple Madison Street. Cast includes Zita Von Scheick Vasa Heller Cecile Crispin Jack Grant and Edin Measom whose natural performance as Joe Heller drew praise. The living room setting centered on a shy daughter’s marriage plot with family loyalty amid light farce and near perfect ensemble acting.
River Forest Post No 315 and Forest Park Post No 44 of the American Legion will consolidate into one post. Arthur Pochert and Edward Seegers, current leaders from Forest Park and River Forest, say the merger strengthens the organization and aids disabled veterans. Meetings occur first and third Mondays at the Legion building on Circle avenue and Adams Avenue.
Five new witnesses failed to identify McFadden suspects or Nettleson and Tracy in the Rafferty Roelle McFadden case. The assistant state attorney pressed the four arrested with no further action planned. Rafferty and Roelle were wounded in the February 24 incident at the Triangle cafe yard on Dede avenues near Harris street. Rafferty is crippled on crutches but alive after surgery. Roelle recovered in days.
Walton H Carts, president of the Walton League chapter, announces a competitive tree planting among Crest Park schools. Children will be matched with trees, each school allotted space in the forest preserve. No individual competition, but prizes will be awarded for the best showing.
Forest Park fire department was called to North Riverside Wednesday afternoon to restore life by palmotor methods to Special Officer Schultz of that village. He had sought to end his days by turning on the gas stove burner. He was saved. The department was also called to Madison Street last Saturday afternoon to extinguish a blaze started under the front steps of the oil frame building at the porch.
A watchman thwarted an attempted robbery at the Borden plant in Hore racht and Marengo when he saw three men removing tires. Police traced Morris Kodesky of Chicago to an afterhours incident, and a truck load of tiles tied to the theft was found on his vehicle. Separate burglaries hit Beloit pharmacy on Madison and Beloit avenues, and a department store window was damaged with a jack.
Work on Forest Bark Nas tpen new lighting progresses this week with foundations for posts south of Harrison street and some north. Conduits on Harlem avenue and Roosevelt road advance while Madison Street work waits on tree removal between Elgin and Marengo to allow conduit pricing. Roosevelt road and Des Plaines avenue excavations continue.
Frank Souhrada appeals to Forest Park residents to vote for Leslie J. Smith for Provian High School Board of Education on April 14, 1929. He cites Smith’s qualifications, steadfast public service, and devotion to American citizenship as reasons to elect him.
Fifteen children from the Edeal Dancing school on Crawford presented a program at Forest Lignely Lions Club Thursday noon. The attendance was large, about sixty five, with a lively display of dance numbers.

Lenurge,sevelryedr son of art and Mrs. Charles Armbrust of 15S More lew avenue on Friday night met with a peculiar accident on his way to the grocery store. He stumbled on a bottle splitting on the cement, its fragments slicing a deep abdominal gash. He hurried home with the wound, was rushed to Oak Park hospital where a three inch cut was found and he was kept under observation for a week or ten days. Dr. Jenkine attended. George is in the second geratic Grint schuel.
Forest Park receives four pages in Minos Muneid Journal praising its new trailer system. Commissioner Brannon is credited for modernized garbage collection that cut costs, saving over $21,000 annually and potentially $200,000 over time with proper oversight.
Voters in Forest Park Maywood Melrose Park and Hillside face a high school board election with Smith and Maywood candidates leading the ballot. Forest Park risks no representation for a year while Maywood highlights two contenders. Polls open 7 AM to 12 PM at local school houses. President Charles Herzog and members Arthur Mescke J J Karmasay vie for board seats. A trustee from Maywood also seeks election with limited opposition.
Forest Park votes on a special election May 18 to decide on two bonds. One for 40000 to build an incinerator and another for 18000 for a hook and ladder truck for the fire department. Opposition concerns location and street access. The Forest Park Chamber of Commerce backs incinerator but not its site. Authorities discuss moving the site to Roosevelt road west of Des Plaines avenue.
