85th Birthday For Harlem Maennerchor Celebrated In Oak Park

The Harlem Maennerchor marked the start of its second 85 years with a Bicentennial Banquet and Ball at the Oak Park Arms Hotel. Members from Forest Park Damenchor joined, performing choral selections before speeches from German officials, local leaders, and historians.

West Towns Receives $434 872 RTA Operating Grant

The Regional Transportation Authority awards West Towns Bus Company 434872 to cover 100 percent of its operating deficit from January 1 to March 31 1976. The grant brings fiscal 1976 total to 1098730 with 847009 granted in 1975. West Towns runs 13 routes in 33 western and southwestern suburbs including Forest Park.

Public Invited To Paramedic Program At Council Meeting

Forest Park HRE department will present a paramedic program at 11 00 a m this Saturday during the Village Council meeting Dr Stanley M Zydlo of Northwest Community Hospital will be guest speaker He will discuss the first multi community paramedic program and a simulated heart attack will be shown paramedics will administer first aid to a victim and the village trauma unit will be on display in the parking lot

Cornerstone Placed Without Fanfare In Forest Park

The Forest Park Historical Society arranged a low key installation of the two sided cornerstone for the municipal complex. The granite marker will display the previous village administration on the exterior and a bronze plaque will note the current council in the lobby.

Forest Park Chamber Dinner Sends Invitations for 39th Annual Dance

The Forest Park Chamber of Commerce invites reservations for the 39th annual dinner dance at the Sheraton Oak Brook Hotel this Saturday. Tickets are 22.50 each and include cocktails, a full course top sirloin dinner, and dancing with Norm Krone and his Orchestra. The Citizen of the Year will be announced, a title recently renamed from Man of the Year.

Community Garden Meeting Set For Plot Assignments

Forest Park residents signed up for space in the Industrial Drive garden are invited to a Monday meeting at 8 00 p m in the Village Hall to receive plot assignments and instructions Commissioner Edward Lambke announced. More land is available and some plots remain. plowing should finish this week with free seeds possibly from Congressman Henry J Hyde's office. If unable to attend contact Lambke or Tony DiFoggio to apply for remaining plots.
