Mrs Mathilda Petersohn longtime School Board member declines re election ending 18 years of service. Election Saturday open noon to 7 pm at local schools with two seats up. Ballot lists Mrs Cora Sallee incumbent and Mrs Batty Baumbach as candidates.
The Forest Park Woman's Club executive board meets April 12 at 7 PM at Mrs. Leslia Smith's home to finalize plans for the Spring Luncheon at Plentywood Farm on April 19 with dramatist Harriet Allyn as program. Reservations deadline April 18. contact Mrs. E. Exler at 366-3677 or 366-4741. The Sixth District annual meeting is April 14 at 10 AM at Berwyn Community Center. Delegates include Mesdames Schwartz, MacGregor, and Herrmann. lunch reservations and lunch timing available by calling before April 12.
The 19th annual Suburban Veterans Chorus spring musical opens Friday April 15 at Proviso East High School auditorium Maywood with a second show Saturday April 16. Under Richard Less, the all male volunteers perform to aid wounded servicemen and fund recreation equipment for veterans hospitals. Proceeds from the chorus benefits hospital programs.
Public schools dismiss at 2 45 p m Thursday April 7 ending the term. Classes resume Monday April 16 at regular time. On April 14 and 15 teachers hold a workshop studying the new science program and evaluating audio visual materials for use in the school program Read Review.
Herbert Zimmerman of 1440 Marengo joins five fellow students as new initiates into the Wisconsin chapter of Alpha Chi Rho Boelal fraternity at the University of Wisconsin.
Forest Park village council approved a four story 28 unit apartment project at 201 205 Elgin and Randolph after Zoning Board clearance for parking and setbacks. Building will sit 3 1/2 feet from the sidewalk to improve sight lines on Elgin Avenue. Building Commissioner William McKenzie expects quick approval to begin. Separately permission was granted to start construction on a 3 1/2 story 21 unit building at 37 41 Rockford with immediate start indicated by the builders.
Mr and Mrs Albert Alala of 1418 Maple Berwyn seek the owner of a dog that bit their daughter Kathy 12 last Thursday near noon Kathy played outside when the dog nipped her arm She ran inside and the dog tried to enter the yard driven away by a car whistle was heard Neighbors noted the dog responded to a Maple whistle The Alalas urge contact at GU 4 3428 to determine vaccination status and avoid further shots for Kathy
Henry Kaufeldt of 916 Circle celebrated his 80th birthday on Sunday April 3. His wife Lillian joined him along with his five daughters Dorothy Goetschel Lillian Hawkins Ruth Pojman Annette Kesmar and Audrey Kaufeldt and their families. He is grandfather to six and great grandfather to one.
