County Clerk Stanley T. Kusper Jr says by 1978 suburban Cook County will rival Chicago in voters. He spoke to Forest Park Chamber of Commerce noting suburban turnout could shape county politics and opposing day-of-election registration as costly and federal overreach.
Cathy Johnson, a national nightclub and TV singer, will headline the 38th annual Forest Park Chamber of Commerce dinner dance on Tuesday April 19 at Hillside Holiday Inn. The show includes guitarist husband as band leader, Staff McMann as comic, and Peter Frank Orchestra with dancing. Tickets are 15 dollars for dinner, show, and dancing. reservations via Chamber office 366 2543.
The Nisei Ambassadors drum and bugle corps announce their annual pancake breakfast on Sunday April 17 from 8 am to 1 pm at VFW Hall 424 Des Plaines. Tickets cost 1.50 for adults and 1 for children. The Ambassadors are sponsored by the Forest Park Port of VFW.
Oak Park Tour Center invites riders to two hour bike tours on the third Sunday each month from April to August. Departures occur at 1 p.m. from Mills Park at Pleasant Avenues, finishing at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio Foundation at 3 p.m. Cost is 2 dollars with a 50 cent Foundation discount. First ride is April 17 with group bookings for 10 or more. information at 848-1978.
Proviso Township Wigs Schools will be out for spring vacation from Good Friday April 8 through the week of April 11 15. Classes resume Monday April 13 at the regular schedule.
Parents of 8th grade graduates bound for Proviso Township High Schools must provide evidence of medical examinations by approved licensed personnel for ninth grade entrants and new students. Vision and dental exams are recommended though not required. Immunization against diphtheria and tetanus is required prior to entering ninth grade.
About 39 Forest Park officials and residents fly to Washington to press for stopping the Ford City to Forest Park mail facility relocation. They will meet at 2 p.m. in the Longworth Building with Congressional leaders and aim to present petitions near 7,000 names.
