A Thursday edition note states the publication costs Brice one dollar and fifty cents per year in advance. The item outlines the payment terms for readers subscribing ahead of each weekly issue.
J P Alexander surveyed Forest City to estimate houses and locations as a step toward city delivery. He reports 40 business houses, 450 homes, and an average of six persons per home. The town shows few steady advertisers and a scattered layout along four main roads leading to the square. Occupants of the houses are described in context of the ad business.
A reader challenges Mr Alexander’s rule used to claim that five people fit the house. The exchange notes two different population figures: 2475 from his reasoning versus 2312 in the census report, suggesting he counted too many halves to reach whole numbers.
List of advertised letters including Henry Green and Mrs Amanda Law rance informs readers to claim if advertised. A horse injury report praises Dr LeGear antiseptic healing powder for knee wounds, claiming rapid healing and insect protection. Misses Hattie and Beunah Jones visit Waynesville Asheville and Dellwood.
