Mr Lewis Carpenter married Miss Gertrude Edwards in the pastor's study at First Baptist Church Rutherfordton on Tuesday afternoon July 28. Rev M A Adams officiated. Only intimate friends attended. Mrs Edwards is daughter of Mr and Mrs B H Edwards of Rutherfordton. Mr Carpenter is a well known Mt Vernon area resident. The couple has many well wishers across the county.
A group led by John Vassey Lawrence Ton J Gordon Chas Nash and Clawte Miller fished Be aeler land in Broadriver near Shi oh church last Friday and landed an eleven pound carp of 29 inches plus 49 other fish. They also hooked a big one that escaped, but overall reported a good day of fishing.
